Zoning

ReCode Cherokee

Building on the vision and success of the Cherokee County 2023 Comprehensive Plan, Our Cherokee: Planning the Future Together, the county is launching ReCode Cherokee, an effort aimed at simplifying and aligning the code to the community’s vision for the future. The effort will streamline the county’s zoning regulations to create a clearer, more consistent, and easier-to-use development code.

ReCode Cherokee is focused on two primary goals to help the community realize the vision expressed in the comprehensive plan:

  1. Modernize standards and policies so the code better supports community goals for growth, character, and quality of life.
  2. Combine several different documents containing zoning and development standards into a Unified Development Code, making it clearer and easier for all users to interpret.
