Title VI Notice of the Civil Rights Act

Attention CATS Passengers:

As a recipient of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funds, Cherokee County maintains a Title VI Plan.

CATS hereby gives public notice of its policy to assure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, Executive Order 12898 on Environmental Justice, and related statutes and regulations in all programs and activities. Title VI requires that no person in the United States of America shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity for which CATS receives Federal financial assistance.

To request a copy of the Title VI program or to request copies of the program in an alternative format in accordance with ADA and LEP regulations, contact CATS at 770-345-6238.

Any person who believes that he or she, individually, or as a member of any specific class of persons, has been excluded from participation in, been denied the benefits of, or otherwise subjected to discrimination under any CATS service, program or activity, and believes the discrimination is based upon race, color, or national origin, has the right to file a formal complaint.

Complaints must be in writing and filed with CATS Title VI Coordinator within one hundred and eighty (180) days following the date of the alleged discriminatory occurrence.

Complaints may also be filed with the Federal Transit Administration in writing within 180 days after the alleged date of discrimination. The Complaint must be signed and include contact information. Complaints should be sent to FTA at the address below:
