Employee Eligibility:
All full-time Cherokee County employees are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following their first full month of employment.
Dependent Eligibility:
Eligible employees may cover thier eligible dependents in medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits. A domestic partner is not considered a spouse under federal law. A qualifing spouse must be legally married and provide proof of marriage.
*Eligible children are defined as:
*Natural born children
*Step children
*Legally adopted children
Dependents are covered to age 26.
Changes in Enrollment Status:
Open enrollment will occur once a year. Each year you may change your benefit elections during the open enrollment period. Once you have
made your selection, you may not change it until the next year's open enrollment period, unless you have a "life changing event." Life changing events include:
- Marriage
- Divorce
- Birth or adoption of a child
- Death
- Spouse losing coverage at their place of employment
- Child losing coverage due to a change in student status
In the event that you have a "life changing event," you must notify Human Resources ([email protected]) within 30 days if you wish to change the status of your insurance coverage.
