Canton Housing Authority, 770-479-4969

Our goal is to provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing for low-income families. CHA only offers Public Housing and doesn’t administer the Housing Voucher Program.

Cherokee County Senior Services, 770-345-5320 

Senior Services has expertise in finding other resources or referrals for seniors in our community. 

GA Public Service Commission, 404-656-4501

GA Public Commission offers discounted rates on telephone bills, the price of lifeline hookups, and senior citizen discounts for 65 & older GA Power customers. They also offer discounts for seniors within a serviced area of an Atlanta Gas Light company when gas fill-ups are needed. Please see the number listed above to call the GA Public Service Commission.

Habitat for Humanity, 770-587-9679 or 770-672-5225

Habitat for Humanity is a large home repair program that operates inside Cherokee County as well as surrounding counties. Low-income seniors who qualify can receive renovations and repairs that ensure their safety while aging at home. Please visit the website or call the number above to start the application process.

Heat Energy Assistance Team (HEAT), 678-406-0212

Funded through the GA Public Service Commission, HEAT assistance provides services that prevent natural gas disconnection and reestablish services for low-income persons based on program restrictions. To learn if you are eligible, please call the HEAT assistance program.

HopeWorks, 404-872-0167

HopeWorks services provide repair or replacement of natural gas furnaces and/or water heaters for low-income senior citizens based on program restrictions. A senior must be a current or eligible Atlanta Gas Light customer.

Loving Arms Cancer Outreach, 770-590-5153

Loving Arms can assist cancer patients within their coverage area for up to $600 annually. Funds are paid directly to utility companies, drug stores, or bill collectors. They can also assist with groceries and gas gift cards.

MUST Ministries, 770-479-5397

MUST Ministries provide a wide range of services including food, housing, & jobs. TBRA (Tenant-Based Rental Assistance) is a program that provides direct assistance, including a rental subsidy that helps make a difference between what a renter can afford and the actual rent. The federal funds assist with rent, utility deposits/costs, and security deposits. Hotel vouchers are available to help those who qualify the be temporarily housed in a motel/hotel until a more permanent solution is established. Their Employment Services provides individualized job coaching and group-centered learning activities to enhance the marketable skills of those seeking employment services. North Georgia Community Action, 770-345-6531

North Georgia Community Action is a nonprofit organization serving Cherokee County since 1974. Their organization works with a variety of community service organizations working to improve and help low-income seniors and homebound individuals. This organization has a variety of different programs that help seniors. Their LIHEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance Program) help seniors maintain a warm home during cold months & a cool home during the summer months. This funding is granted each year and works on a first-come, first-serve basis, helping until the funding is no longer there. Emergency

Assistance provides rental aid, prescription drug costs, utility crisis intervention, & budget counseling/referrals. Lastly, the Weatherization

The program can help low-income elders with attic insulation, caulking, weather-stripping, wall insulation, & minor heating repairs. This program helps seniors avoid paying large utility bills because of a poorly insulated home. Project SHARE, 770-720-4316

Project SHARE provides emergency assistance to Georgians who need help with basic necessities – housing, food, medical care, and utility services. The program assists the elderly, the disabled, the unemployed, the sick, and others experiencing financial hardships. Applications are taken at your county’s Salvation Army office.

Standup for Seniors, 770-345-5320

Standup for Seniors is a nonprofit organization that helps low-income senior residents (60 & older) of Cherokee County. Their Last Stop Program can provide financial assistance with past-due utility bills, rental assistance, medication costs, and emergency shelter. The Minor-Home Repair Program can assist homeowners with home modifications and safety concerns. The Senior Comfort Program can help with purchasing lift chairs, heaters, and fans. Applications are taken by Cherokee County Senior Services and then sent to the organization for approval/denial based on program restrictions. St. Vincent de Paul, 678-892-6163

St. Vincent de Paul offers rental, mortgage, and utility bill assistance. Eligible seniors can receive assistance through their application process. They also provide temporary housing, offering temporary stays, typically a week, at a motel or shelter. They also assist with moving or storage of personal items when eviction is unavoidable. The Salvation Army Project, 770-441-6200

Funded through the GA Public Service Commission, the Salvation Army Project helps low-income people prevent disconnection from natural gas services based on program restrictions. To learn if you are eligible, please call the Salvation Army Project.

United Way, 211

United Way provides tons of different services ranging from employment assistance, financial assistance, family services, shelter and housing assistance, counseling, rent and utility assistance, etc. This program assists with anyone in the greater Atlanta area. Medical Financial Discounts & Low-Cost Clinics

Bethesda Community Clinic, 404-307-3721

Bethesda Community Clinic exists for those patients who do not have private health insurance and cannot afford to pay for healthcare in the private sector. They provide medical care, health education, & select social services to patients of all ages. Their medical services include acute care, blood work & labs, chronic disease management, counseling services, diabetes education, DOT physicals, medication assistance, pediatric care, physical exams, & women’s health services.

Coherus Complete, 844-483-3692

Uninsured, functionally underinsured, or Medicare patients demonstrating financial hardships are eligible to receive doses of UDENYCA (pegfilgrastim-cbqv) for free or discounted rates. The drug is very expensive for cancer patients, and this program offers financial relief. The patient must meet program guidelines. To learn more, please go online to www.CoherusCOMPLETE.com.

Georgia Cares, 800-669-8387

Georgia Cares is designed to educate and help seniors apply for all available low-cost prescription drug assistance programs. They assist with various things, including information about health insurance, long-term care insurance, managed care, Medigap, & Medicare savings programs. They offer help with applying for all low-cost prescription assistance programs, understanding your rights as a Medicare Beneficiary, sorting through bills & filing medical claims, comparing & evaluating health insurance and managed care plans.

Good Days Medical Help

Good Days is a non-profit organization whose financial assistance programs provide thousands of individuals diagnosed with life-altering diseases the opportunity to get the medications they need to improve their quality of life. Good Days can help with copay, travel, premium, and diagnostic testing assistance for those who qualify. To apply for assistance, visit  https://www.mygooddays.org/apply.

When health insurance isn’t enough, HealthWell Foundation can help with copays, premiums, deductibles, & out-of-pocket expenses for supplies, supplements, surgeries, and more. To learn more information, please visit https://www.healthwellfoundation.org/.

RX Hope

Patient Assistance Programs are designed to support low-income US residents with free or low-cost prescriptions. The program usually covers name-brand drugs only and is administered individually by the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the drugs. Application is completed online at  https://www.rxhope.com/PAP/papselectdrug.aspx . If assistance is needed with the application, please contact the Georgia Cares Program.

Walmart Health Center provides quality care all in one place, including primary care, dental, labs, x-rays, optometry, audiology, & counseling. They are open Monday-Sunday and give affordable prices to both insured & uninsured patients.
